InMode Technology
There are various forms of non-invasive vaginal rejuvenation treatments to choose from. Radiofrequency (RF) treatment has the most studies and has the safest track record. Here at Center for Sexual and Urinary Function, we utilize the specialized and non-invasive InMode technology for vaginal rejuvenation that delivers constant radiofrequency to vaginal and external genital areas. One treatment session takes around 20 minutes. For better results, two or more sessions are recommended to maximize tissue restoration. Fractional RF could be additionally delivered deep into a labial skin with an array of fine needles.
How does it work?
During the treatment, the vagina probe is gently moved back and forth to heat the vaginal wall. Continuous temperature feedback prevents overheating. The same probe is used on the skin surrounding the vaginal opening. The treatment is repeated twice 3 to 4 weeks apart. The delivered heat stimulates fibroblasts; cells in the vaginal wall that are responsible for tissue repair. As shown by tissue biopsy, this leads to the production of new collagen and elastin responsible for a younger and healthier look. Additionally, the heat shortens existing collagen fibers and increases the density of elastin fibers producing tightening of the vaginal canal and flatting of wrinkles. There is a new blood vessel formation leading to increased blood flow in the vaginal wall responsible for increased moisture and inflow of nutrients. The increase in small nerve fibers improves vaginal sensitivity and sexual function.

Research
In regards to sexual function, a significant improvement was achieved when compared to sham treatment among 108 women studied. Improved blood flow to labia and clitoris and improved innervation resulted in faster arousal, improved lubrication, and more intense orgasm.
Urinary incontinence as measured objectively with during cough stress test (leakage visible when coughing with a full bladder) was negative in 70% of patients three months after treatment. This was verified with a self-reported questionnaire.
Vaginal laxity after delivery persists in about 1/5 of women three months after delivery. Only half of them will improve three months later. Radiofrequency technology restored original laxity in all women at one month to the level before delivery. That persisted for six months.
When to expect changes
You can expect visible changes after the 1st treatment. The result will improve with time. Vaginal moisture will improve at two weeks. The results persist for 12 months. No longer follow up data are available. There have been no adverse effects reported.
