PRP Q & A

What is platelet-rich plasma?

Platelets are naturally occurring cells that circulate in your blood and bind together to heal damaged blood vessels. PRP is plasma — the colorless liquid that carries blood cells — that has been put through the process of centrifugation. This process separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of your blood.

As a medical treatment, PRP has the ability to encourage the regeneration of healthy tissue all over the body.

Which treatments use PRP?

Because platelet-rich plasma is so versatile, there are a number of different applications. At the Center for Sexual & Urinary Function, Dr. Niemczyk can use PRP to improve both your aesthetic appearance and sexual health. Available treatments include:

P-Shot®

The P-Shot, also known as the Priapus Shot®, uses PRP to rejuvenate penile tissue and improve sexual functions. The minimally invasive procedure works to encourage new tissue growth and increase blood flow.

Applications of PRP can result in relief from erectile dysfunction (ED), increased penile sensation, and stronger erections. The P-shot is an alternative to traditional methods of ED treatment like medication and uses your body’s natural healing powers to improve erectile function.

O-Shot®

The Orgasm Shot®, or O-Shot, is a simple women’s health procedure that uses PRP to improve a number of vaginal functions. Helping to repair damaged tissue, the O-Shot is a common method of vaginal rejuvenation. Conditions commonly treated using the O-Shot include:

  • Female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD)
  • Painful intercourse
  • Decreased libido
  • Incontinence

The O-Shot is also used to enhance sensitivity and arousal.

Vampire facial

The vampire facial harnesses the ultra-healing properties of PRP to boost the body’s natural collagen production, revealing youthful, revitalized skin. A small sample of your blood is used to perform the procedure.

After putting the sample through centrifugation, Dr. Niemczyk applies the plasma to your skin through a series of microscopic injections. The PRP penetrates deep into the layers of your skin, triggering healing from the inside out.

Are PRP treatments painful?

PRP treatments are applied using tiny injections. The procedure is no more painful than a normal soft tissue injection. The benefits of PRP treatments include no downtime, long-lasting results, and minimal side effects.
